I miss...

Thabo Mbeki...

If people could overcome their prejudice or confirmation bias for a second you'd have realised this guy is right just about everything.

He is a good guy but he lacks imagination and faith in the people. There are many more ways to solve a problem than just taxing and spending. He thinks in terms of budget sheets and top down management (baba syndrome) and never in mobilization of the people. There is a wealth of untapped resources out there but he wants to control everything from the ebony tower. He talks about his dreams and his visions but, as noble as they seem, what about the dreams and visions of the people? Surly they count for something; we are not some sort of project to be managed; no balance there if you ask me.

It's also plain to see the gag he it wearing in regards to the current administration (as could be expected). Did you see him stumble on that question about the Zuma administration?

That being said, I would take him back any day.

I also think it's time to change the blog name. "Shut up Whitey" is just not appropriate any more. Sounds like a muzzel. Maybe "Don't-be-a Poes-Whitey" would be better. We are in this together, are we not?

Don't need to post this but it keeps appearing in my inbox for some reason:

Seems like the latest copy/paste.

Mbeki at least wasn't a populist with floozy ideals. He was a pragmatic workhorse. As far as imagination goes he dreamed up the African rennaisance. What an honest admition of the African condition to admit Africa had not even yet gone through a basic rannaisance? You always got the send that Mbeki felt secretly ashamed of the current state of Africa as a black person. It was the western way of taking accountability for your situation and group. We sure could use mroe of that in Africa.

That study is hilarious. I should write an article about it. I started reading but had to stopm for the laughter.

Some of its "estimate"

1000 people a day die from Aids.

Bwahahahahahaha !!

That's 365 000 people a year you idiots.

Our death rate is 17 per 1000 people...or 765 000 people a year. So the study is saying 1 in 2 people die from Aids ? Stupid.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_and_dependent_territories_by_death_rate

The official figures of Aids deaths per year is 15000. I say that's bullshit too. I would also add in half TB deaths to be aids which is a further 40 000. So around 55 000 deaths would be more reasonable. Why do I always find studies on South Africa to "estimate"multiples of reality to get their bogus "points" across ? Silly country.
