Election udpate...

So here we are …the 2009 elections.

I have freshly returned from offering my opinion in the form of a cross down at the local electoral offices. I’m not going to get precious and secretive about my petty vote…it went to the D.A.

Frankly nothing regarding the D.A inspires me. It’s headed up by a woman , which if you’ve never met one is basically the lovechild of a cat and a leech. A woman who isn’t young enough to shag or old enough to abuse her dementia to creep into her will….so not even a useful woman at that. But it does offer one thing I liked : No Jacob Zuma.

Now Jacob Zuma is going to win the election by 67%. That’s my guess. To be fair it’s an educated guess based on data and surveys that in every elections turn out to only deter by less than 1%, so no getting shocked when it turns out perfectly accurate. I wish it wasn’t the case …Jacob Zuma is a lying, sociopathic populist whose cronies have used our tax money to buy votes in the form of food vouchers and financial amnesties to the poor. But without getting too negative I force myself acknowledge a very simple fact. That’s not the reason he’s going to get elected. And here it is…

The A.N.C have done a damn brilliant job.

As I commented in a recent response to a reader, I stated how I had recently being exposed to the townships in the town I lived and was amazed at how they had developed. I also spent a holiday in the Transkei and could barely recognize it for the improvement in living conditions. Even in the most isolated of places. Rdp houses, water ,electricity, schools , clinics etc everywhere !! Millions and millions of poor South Africans are living a much better life now thanks to the A.N.C …and the change has been swift and massive.

So it’s with a heavy heart that for the first time since 1994 I feel a great sense of cynicism towards the next few steps the country will be taking. It’s in my nature to be optimistic and I hold hope that the economy recovers to grow at a good rate again in the late stages of this year and that DESPITE the government we continue on the path to human dignity for all and this holds off the socialist temptations just long enough for the old race obsessed leaders to die out and make way for the educated youth.

So on that note , excuse the lack of humour or wit in today’s article, but I’m not really seeing the funny side of it all right now. With that said despite the result I'm not going anywhere...this country is too wonderful and full of potential to give up on. Let's try something new...being mature and debating the future of this beautiful country.

Well that's because you're stupid. Crime is not out of control...it's decreased significatly for the past 6-7 years. Aids is also on the declne and the government has spent millions on it incuding free drugs and massive educational campaigns. The cities are by no means slightly run down...the city infrastrucure is better than it's ever been in my lifetime. Everyone is not leaving..more brits and saffers are coming back to the country currently than saffers are leaving (not to included other nationalities who are also moving here...the private hospitals (the same you'd have to pay for in the states) are brilliant and not in the slightest run down.

So what the hell are you on about ?

well i cleary disagree everyone is leaving and crime is not down is jsut apears down as everyone now lives behind boom gates and as people are more aware its harder to get taken by a crim

perth is becoming the new south africa

no way on earth is the crime decreasing not when sa has 18 thousand murders just jobrug alone has over 12 thousand rapes a year thats a hundred a day 126 thousand armed hold ups a year that one every 5 minutes crime is out of control

well i jsut got back from watching the lions get smashed by the force very kak indead whats happened to the great side who once was

found this article in an sa sports mag

here is an interesting piece

Nor does it help that the union plays out of downtown Jo’burg. Getting people to Coca-Cola Park is a hard-sell. ‘C’mon down to Doornfontein for your slice of mayhem and murder’ doesn’t quite cut it as an advertising jingle, although it wouldn’t be far wrong. The area is a dive no matter what the 2010-types tell you about inner-city regeneration.

You were probably the muppet who who was waving the old flag. I was watching te rugby in a pub full of die ard afrikaaners and when they say that they all cheered when I shouted "oh for fuck sakes look at thse twats ! Get the fuck over it"

And yes...crime is down. The way you ex-twats go on it APPEARS up i anything. This is clearly not the case and violent crime has been down for the past many years. Enjoy life in Perth or whatever hole you now live in if you want to, just spare us your opinions on OUR country ok ?

Your hysterial nonsense about it being dangerous to go watch a game in rugby in south africa is a gem. I would pat you on the back in the manner one would to console a child but you'de probably fal into a catatonic fit thinking I was trying to harm you, you fucking neurotic mess.

its not an opion when i have been carjacked mysewlf and no first hand of the violewnt crime in sa as have many of my friends and family my best friend from high school in durbs has had a more than a few friends shot died in armed hold up

and in any case sa appears bad when u compare it to other western worlds like nz which only has 30 murders a year or aussie with 200 murders a year and 70 percent of those r solved in the first 30 days cept in aussie no one goes to jail

compared to 18 thousand murders a year which sa has so sa does look bad compared to other countrys

You in a pub full of Dutchmen watching rugby?
Ho-Ho-Ho... now pull the middle one doos! More likely in a sheb drinking milk stout watching a tv run on batteries (and most probably watching bafana-hikona get beaten by some nonentity african country like Gambia)
If you had been in a boere-ensamble you would have been fucked up so bad your mother herself would have flushed you down the toilet!

Never mind the ruggers, could you fellows try and improve your spelling and grammar? It's embarrassing enough having to listen to Afrikaners mangle the English language when talking, but when supposed native speakers write like they've just injected PCP in their veins it is highly disparaging.

"The A.N.C have done a damn brilliant job."

Compared to which other party? If we assume that SA's democracy began in 1994, there has only been one party that has ruled. To say they've done a brilliant job is clumsy, because there is nothing against which to make the comparison.

If, for example, 15000 LESS homes were built since 1994,you could equally say they did a brilliant job. If 15000 MORE homes were built, you could equally say they did a brilliant job.

There is no benchmark, making any conclusion plausible.

However, you could also argue that the ANC has done an abysmal job since 1994. They've not come close to anything they promised SA back in 94. Their service delivery has been questionable. Townships have not vanished. In fact, much of the Cape Flats has expanded in terms of shacks and poverty. Unemployment still remains high. Although crime has decreased, it still remains in the tens of thousands. The decrease has only been a few thousand and not worthy of celebration.

I could go on.

Point is that you can't say they've done a "brilliant" job, nor can you say they haven't. it just depends on who you speak to. There are millions who believe they've done a crap job. Hence the ANC losing nearly 5% of the national vote and the DA increasing its support.

Use it, don't use it...

ja i agree sa soccer is a joke

i remember watching the news a few years back and they asked people on the street what the problem with sa soccer was and a black woman said we need black thinking

can you imagine the kak storm if a white guy said we need white thinking !!!!!!!!

During the first 12 years after our first democratic election, I tried to convince everybody inside and outside the country who doubted the new South Africa, that the negative aspects of the transition were only temporarily and superficial coincidences. Today I cannot say that any more………their (South Africa’s leaders’) first priority is apparently to fill their own pockets and those of family and friends and to abuse their positions, even if they have to step on the victims of murder, rape and violence and telling those who dare protest to shut up or leave.

said by andre brink and so true what he has said anyone who disagrees with the anc is called a rascist

more crazy but funny stuff from sa goverment

I praise Zimbabwe for its advances and successes in the 25 years since its independence from Britain. Our two countries share a common world view and would march forward shoulder to shoulder. (Ronnie Kasrils, Intelligence Minister and filthy old school Communist, not mentioning the fact that this African shit-hole has an inflation rate of 1571%, unemployment topping 80% and the fact that Zimboonians have resorted to eating rats in order to survive another day in Mugarbage’s African Pride LaLa Paradise

--------------------

Zimbabwe now used the U.S dollar and all signs that it's again on the up are there for anyone who actually knows anything about the place (I have family there).

Not to argue zimabwe isn't a mess but why the hell would you compare africa's poorest and most autocrati country (zim) to it's richest and most democratic (S.A) ?

That's just......stupid.

i dont believe that for a second theres no way in the world zim is on the up its jsut getting worse i just saw a new documenatr by a black guy from zim showing theres no food health care people areso hungry they are eating rats

shameless disgrace

On Saturday the 9th of May The ANC Marxist Terrorist scum will hold the biggest inauguration party of the century at the cost of us…the Taxpayer. 75 Million Rand for an hour long inauguration…. and Mugabe will be there. The Dalai Lama could not get a visa to visit SA, but a mass murderer like Mugabe who killed more than 20,000 Matabeles in the early eighties will be a guest of honour.

But then again…Mugabe is a hero. I mean he has killed more Blacks than the entire Apartheid government ever did. More than any “Extreme” Rightwing organisation. He serves his Communist masters well. He shares their ultimate goal of depopulating Africa and is handsomely rewarded for killing off “Useless eaters”. And the ANC government supports him with loans and aid all the time.

thats why i dont vote anc
