S.A cities pwn.

Johannesburg - South Africa has performed well in a survey of the best cities for business in the developing world.

The project, funded by MasterCard, indentified cities with the highest potential for commercial activity.

South Africa has more cities (Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban) among the top 40 cities than any country outside of Brazil, Russia, India and China (the BRIC nations). Johannesburg, in the 11th position, has fared better than any cities in Russia, India or Brazil.

China has four cities amongst the top ten.

“South Africa is clearly on the move and worth watching,” says the report, which goes so far as mooting the country as a possible future Bric component.

South African cities performed well in a number of categories, including the tax system, the ease with which an enterprise can be established or shut down, and the effective enforcement of contracts.

Johannesburg also scored well for its standard of financial services.

Cape Town, in turn, came first for quality of city life, while Durban and Cape Town shared first place in terms of safety. In the safety category Johannesburg took eighth position among the 65 cities rated.

Emerging economies will, according to MasterCard, soon contribute 12 times as much to world growth as the developed world does.

Bwahahahahahahaha....

Did you get that muppets ? Cape town and Durban voted safest cities..Johanessburg coming in at 8th. Cape Town number 1 for quality of life. S.A pwning in all categories in a totally independant and objective study! Sing it with me folks....

YOU ARE PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN WHEN:
You call a bathing suit a 'swimming costume'.

You call a traffic light a 'robot'.
You call an elevator a 'lift'
You call a hood a 'bonnet'
You call a trunk a 'boot'
You call a pickup truck a 'bakkie'
You call a Barbeque a 'Braai'

The employees dance in front of the building to show how unhappy they are.

The SABC advertises and shows highlights of the programme you just finished watching.

You get cold easily. Anything below 16 degrees Celsius is Arctic weather.

You know what Rooibos Tea is, even if you've never had any.

You can sing your national anthem in four languages, and you have no idea what it means in any of them.

You know someone who knows someone who has met Nelson Mandela.

You go to braais regularly, where you eat boerewors and swim, sometimes simultaneously.

You produce a R100 note instead of your driver's licence when stopped by a traffic officer.

You can do your monthly shopping on the pavement.

You have to hire a security guard whenever you park your car.

When you are a victim of crime and say: 'At least I'm still alive'.

You know a taxi can move twice it's certified number of people in one trip.

You travel 100's of kilometres to see snow.

You know the rules of Rugby better than any referee

To get free electricity you have to pay a connection fee of R750.

More people vote in a local reality TV show than in a local election.

People have the most wonderful names: Christmas, Goodwill, Pretty, Wednesday, Blessing, Brilliant, Gift, Precious, Innocence and Given, Patience, Portion, Coronation.

'Now now' or 'just now' can mean anything from a minute to a month.

You continue to wait after a traffic light has turned to green to make way for taxis travelling in the opposite direction.

Travelling at 120 km/h you're the slowest vehicle on the highway/freeway.

You're genuinely and pleasantly surprised whenever you find your car parked where you left it.

A bullet train is being introduced, but we can't fix potholes.

The last time you visited the coast you paid more in speeding fines and toll fees than you did for the entire holiday.

You paint your car's registration on the roof.

You have to take your own linen with you if you are admitted to a government hospital.

You have to prove that you don't need a loan to get one.

Prisoners go on strike.

You don't stop at a red traffic light, in case somebody hijacks your car.

You consider it a good month if you only get mugged once.

Ruwandan refugees start leaving the country because the crime rate is too high.
You consider a high crime rate as normal.

You actually get these.

I'm not S.A.S ...I have a very easy position to defend .ie : south Africa is an awesome place to live. I don't need to make stuff up to try and validate my bullshit. This comes from news24.

Almost 400 smash-and-grab attacks take place in the greater Durban area every month, according to glass-fitting companies.
A survey of three well-known glass-fitment companies around Durban said that on average between 10 and 12 motorists were attacked every day. This figure excludes the many other glass-fitting companies around Durban, therefore the actual number of motorists attacked could be even higher. Here we are only talking smash and grabs (the smallest of crimes) We haven't even begun to mention murder, rape, armed robberies, home invasions, car jacking .....
So who should we believe? A pie in the sky project or 'actual' figures. Brazil? Russia? India? China? That's no great feat. None of the bric countries mentioned would be on my list of top 10 places to visit. This is nothing to brag about, your boast pales into significance if you look at the Durban North/Durban South crime stats. Read and understand it

Who are you, and this bullshit article, trying to fool?

See below this article published in the Independant On Line July 2007

Central Durban is the robbery capital of South Africa - for the second year in a row.

It has twice topped the national crime statistics with the most cases of robbery with aggravated circumstances, more than 3 000 during the period April 2006 to March 2007, showing a significant increase from the previous year.

Shocking statistics revealed this week that there were 3 215 cases of robbery in central Durban, an increase of nearly 500 cases, up from 2 721.

There were also 2 987 cases of general aggravated robbery which increased from 2 535 the previous year. The central policing area incorporates Durban beachfront and the central business district.

Durban Metro Police spokesperson Senior Superintendent John-Thomas Tyala said they were taking steps to address the crime issue.

"We realise that the high serious crime rate in central Durban is quite alarming."

That's a fact Jack! So how much has changed between 2007 and 2008?

Very little, if anything!

Thanks, but NOT THANKS. We're not
wiiiiinnnniiiiiiing!!!

For your info dumbass of the 18000 murders in south africa , only 500 are related to hijackings, house invasions , armed hiest robbery. You're misrepresenting violent crime which normally happens between poor drunk people ina township who know each other and have had an inter-personal dispute (ie ; knife/gun fighting).

Then the rest of durban must be very safe to manage theaverage. Awesome. Or does the bronx represent new york life to you too ? While on the topic there were 445 000 rooberies in the united states last year.

Come on sing it with me brudhha

It's more fun when you're wiiiinnniiiiiing !!!

oh and 850 000 cases of agravatted assault. And 2 100 000 burglaries.

In the united states. South Africa has a high rate of violent crime (around 9th if you don't include 80% africa or south east asia who don't report stats) ..but other crimes are well within normal.

Here's the link for crime stats in the stats by the way..

Ok...now close your mouth.

over 1 million vehicle thefts (S.A has about 8000)and 6.5 million cases of larceny-theft (whatever that means)in the states too.

Now I'm not putting these up to say that states is a dump. I'm just trying to demonstrate to you idiots that the grass is not nearly as green as you think on the other side. South Africa is not unique to crime , it's just unique to thinking it is.
