Another perspective...

I don't care from which side of the South African racial tracks you are from, this should make you think. Well , those of you with the potential to think , which let's be fair does not describe many of my Afrikaans readers.

Cynically speaking, the clip is totally inaccurate.

Why was there no rape, murder and armed robbery by the disadvantaged in the clip?

If you are going to produce something this cynical, don't leave out half the story.

You see rape and murder and armed robbery as a every day event ? Wow..what kind of messed up place do you live ? You must be confused , this clip is about South Africa.

The clip isn't cynical , it's all about holding a mirror up to Whitey.

I did see rape, murder and armed robbery as an everyday event in SA. I also saw it escalate dramatically over the last 10 years, and I have no reason to believe it has improved in the last 6 months.

While I understand and even applaud your attempts to encourage people to see SA in a positive light it doesn't change the hard fact that the levels of gratuitous violence associated with crime in SA is out of control.

I concede that I do see violent crime in my current community however, it is not nearly on the scale seen in SA.

The point here is the wanton savagery of the violence experienced by all victims of crime in SA irrespective of race.

Should have read "satirical".
Edit oversight. It happens.

I just spent a few hours reading this blog and, apart from the vituperative language directed at Afrikaans speaking people, found it quite enjoyable. You don't seem like you truly hate all Afrikaans speaking white people, so why do paint us all with the same brush in your posts? Do you hate self-righteous, paranoid, bigoted, lowbrow, extremists of all races, or only the white Afrikaans speaking ones (many of whom, I concede, actively make idiotic comments in response your posts)?

In no way does this blog propose the killing , hurting or maiming of anyone of any race , creed or ethnicity. This blog is about moving foward in a positive light in South Africa. The title is not meant to be taken literally in any way , shape or means.

YEAH RIGHT.

I'll delete the comments...the idiot also just made it really easy to find his Ip Addy. He does it again and I'll ban him.

Hey wrok. A little secret between us ok....? I don't hate anybody at all (including afrikaaners)unless they provide me with good reason (such as being hateful racists and bigots). As you say I hate extremists of all types....well hate is the wrong word even....because sometimes it's very easy to empathise and write their actions off due to pure ignorants. I'l glad you enjyed reading the blog and thanks for the comments.

Actually anon...the past 10 years have seen a 20% reduction in violent crime. The trend has been consistant every year running. Crime now is exactly as high as it was under the givernment in 1994. If trends continue we see it lower next year for the first time. Also we once had the highest murder rate in the world 9 not counting countries in wars , or countries who didn't have stats/reliable stats). Now we are the 6th. So while you are right to say crime is high...you're etirely wrong to say it was gotten worse in the past 10 years.

Stolen Gravestones.
Stolen Coffins.
Stolen Body parts.
Not even the dead can hide from the crime in this utopia of a rainbow nation.

More than 40 municipalities in three provinces are under investigation for corruption.

The reign of terror unleashed on South Africans in their homes by gangs of armed thugs is worsening dramatically.

Residential robbery is up by 14,5 percent nationally, according to the police's 2007-2008 crime statistics.

Forty percent of people live under the poverty line and thirty percent are unemployed but do the people aboard the gravy choo choo appear to know that or care?

Six men have been arrested in connection with stolen goods worth over R4m, Mpumalanga police said.

Spokeperson Leonard Hlathi said the six, including a police officer were arrested in Mpumalanga, North West and Gauteng.

According to the The Star, the findings of an online consumer survey by Dial Direct Insurance, indicates that some 30 percent of South Africans don't feel safe at home. The survey found that:

20 percent felt at risk no matter what they did to protect their properties
10 percent said they were not safe because they didn't have the money to invest in more security
41 percent said they would feel safer if they were able to add more security measures such as burglar bars, security gates, electric fencing and beams, and if there were increased patrols of their area by a dedicated security company or the police
27 percent felt that the only way they would be able to feel completely at ease is if they were to emigrate to another country.

Another day, another 50 murders. Tackling crime, the munista says, I'd hate to see him NOT tackling crime. How much worse can it get?

There are more children raped in South Africa than any other country in the world, regardless of the population size. And every time one thinks that this must be the worst example an even worse atrocity takes place.

The majority of medium to large privately held businesses (72%) reported their staff or families of staff had been affected by violent crime over the past year

If your property is being targeted for a violent or serious crime, you can safely bet on it that someone on the outside is soliciting information and compliance from one of your employees. Bribes and threats usually go hand-in-hand, and are common denominators where crime and corruption is found. But when bribes are plentiful, and few are willing to ‘whistle blow’ or complain, what can be done?

If it has to be shagged, drank, hit, shot or stolen then you call the ANC and its AA appointees. If it has to be run ethically and properly then forgeddaboutit.

Highest murder rate in the world, highest rape statistics in the world, most child rapes and most violent crimes in the world. Yet we are told that crime is under control. The main problem remains that crime does pay in South Africa. There are more than 200 criminals sitting in parliament that were protected by the ANC from prosecution or liability. Corrupt criminal ministers, police chiefs, chief justices, councillors, mayors, government officials, the list is endless and these are our role models driving their luxury German cars and jet setting all over the world flaunting this instant wealth.

I could go on forever but if you like it in that shit hole then have a shit life.

Comments deleted. There are three susepects, one from South Africa ,one from Australia and one from England. It will be extremely easy to find out exactly who the culprit is. If it carries on I'll simply turn comment moderation on. But not before you'll be banned and i'll think nothing of posting you ip , location etc up here.

+++++++++++

Are you saying it is NOT an every day event? What rock have YOU been living under? You are seriously delusional. You must be the only person in SA who bleives these are not everyday events.

The Rooster said...

No packed for Perth. Get your head out of your arse. I'm saying you are extremely unlikely to encounter these things on a personal level not just in a day , but in 30 years or more in any context of anyone you actually know. Personally I know distantly of 2 people murdered. 1 was a family dispute (and they were not South Africans) and the other was a house break in and was a freakish hate crime commited during apartheid. This type of experience rings true for just about every single person I know. Out of Johanessburg or the townships there just isn't that much crime. Get it in your freaking head.

The Rooster said...

Depends...I get my stats from the South African police and their watchdogs. I'd love to know where you people get your inflated stats from.

For those that are interested the official historical crime stats 1994 - 2008 are here. The table also shows you a daily average figure.
