To my black readers...

The song "shoot the boer" has recently been banned. I was just watching the morning news when the question was asked in it's defence "How would you feel if we banned Afrikaans songs ?"

For once I'm going to take the sides of the Afrikaners/extreme right. Let's acknowledge a general truth: In this country if a black person is killed it is very likely to be at the hands of another black person. But if a white is killed it's again likely to happen at the hands of a black person.

With that FACT let's admit that the time has gone for you to see yourselves as the victim. You must atone for this reality by at the very least having the good sense to not sing songs/make light of the violence that is carried out.

Now I'm very outspoken about the fact that farm murders are highly exaggerated. I've proved that over and over and there's really no doubt about that. BUT they do happen and they are too often extremely violent involving torture etc. To sing such a song in the face of this does exactly what the far right does...it polarises people. And I'm sure as hell not in the favour of that.

So stop it. Stop defending this song. Your right to a fuzzy feeling of nostalgia can not come at the expense (real or not real) of people feeling afraid. Ethically your right to " a good time" does not trump another persons right to a feeling of security. Maslow’s hierarchy and all that.

Besides, it's a crap song.

And what's more Julius Malema has about as much chance of doing anything to help the poor in this country than does a catholic priest of becoming the head of a anti paedophile movement. None.

I mean fuck this guy. I'm so damn tired of reading about him. Boycott any newspaper who puts anything about him in it. We shouldn't care what some communist populist has to say and we sure as hell shouldn't be helping spread his message.

Agree 1,000%. If ever there was a reason to emigrate it must surely be to avoid having to pick up another newspaper with yet another headline about Julius Malema. It's boring, it's depressing, it's totally, totally crap.

For the record, JM is not a communist: the SA Communist Party are dead against him. The SACP and Costau have now called for the Limpopo ANC government to step down. According to Gilbert Kganyago of the SACP:

"According to the Cosatu Memorandum and the subsequent criminal charges laid thereby, there is reason to believe, that there is serious abuse of state power and machinery by some elements entrusted with the responsibility of administering the public affairs in Limpopo Province.

"It is the firm believe of the SACP that whenever public officials are entrusted with the mandate both by the electorate and the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa to manage and administer the common affairs of the populace, such officials must display a great deal of fairness, an impeccable record of loyalty and honest service to the people. This must be based on due observance of the tenets that underlie administrative justice and the equitable distribution of economic opportunities to all the citizens irrespective of their background or location or believe or gender orientation and age etc.

"The SACP is of the view that these precepts of democratic practice have been grossly undermined wilfully and intentionally by some individuals who hold positions of public trust in the Limpopo Provincial Administration. Through plunder and looting of state resources, these culprits have personally enriched themselves and their cronies beyond imagination at the expense of the working poor and rural poor, who still go without clean water and sanitation, quality education and employment let alone poor quality of health facilities such as clinics and hospitals.

"Furthermore, the SACP has characterised this coterie of looters and plunderers as a political and business faction that undermines the capacity and moral leadership of the Alliance to drive and implement the progressive policies of the Alliance-led Government to deliver a better life for all. Notably, this faction uses their ill begotten resources to manipulate political organisations of the Alliance in pursuit of self-centred political ambitious.

"In this connection, as the SACP, we have reason to believe that the resources so looted and stolen from the state are channeled to wage a counter-revolutionary upsurge against the sitting democratically elected leaders of the Alliance especially at a national level, thereby sowing divisions and confusion within our society. The recent media revelations that money is imported from Limpopo Province to fund dubious political activities in some parts of the country serves as no further requirement of prima facie proof.

"Subsequently, without any hesitation, the SACP supports the concerns and demands as raised by Cosatu in the province during its recent anti-corruption march to the Provincial Government.

"For its part, the SACP is of the view that, if the concerns raised by Cosatu and the scandalous reports are anything to go by, then we take a deem view of the rot and corruption that runs through the Limpopo Provincial Administration which can best be characterised as kleptocratic.

"Accordingly, the SACP in Limpopo make bold to call upon the Limpopo Provincial Administration to step down and that the Government be placed under administration as a matter not only of necessity but urgency.

"In addition, the SACP calls upon the Law Enforcement Agencies to move with the speed of lightning in bringing to finality the investigations and prosecutions of the reported criminal cases of corruption within the Provincial Administration as accordingly reported by Cosatu."

Examples of other people who weren't communists in the intended sense of the word: Lenin, Marx, Trotsky , but used the ideas to enhance their populist (but in essense zionist in their case) agendas.

The sad thng about this mess is that the reason Julius Malema exists is because he can just hold up a mirror to white racists who are very happy to oblige him (especially our friends I luvsa, mike smith and TIA etc) and say "you see ? I am right about whites ! They are racists and trying to opress you"

Sad fucks feed the very monster they claik to be against and make it stronger.

It's very, very hard not to be counter-racist when the ruling government diverts the frustrations of the masses it brazenly exploits onto whites who don't have any political power anyway. Even if whites handed over all their assets to blacks before killing themselves, blacks would still be poor. On a certain level blacks know this too, and they are angry at the way things have turned out. More and more, blacks are saying to whites, "It was better when whites used to run South Africa." And yes, South Africa would be better off if non-blacks were to have a greater role to play, but not along the lines of apartheid.

The ANC are terrified of whites (or non-blacks) coming into power again. That is why they have cultivated Malema to what he is today. It was fully the ANC's intention to develop Malema for blacks to vent their anger at whites and secondly to allow them to quietly dream that they too, might some day, win the lottery of chance favours. They have bankrolled him, they expect him to be obedient to the mandate they have given him. But what Malema is saying is, what do you, the ANC, have to offer young black people, other than the option of all out nationalisation of the spoils so that we can all have a nice party, and then its Zimbabwe time. That is what is being played out in the headlines. The ANC does not have the political will to develop the nation. That is in any case not it's job; government should be there to enable the development of the nation. That is what Moeletsi Mbeki is saying too, that the ANC is a dead log lying in the path of progress. But: bring down the ANC, and you have the next domino in the line, Cosatu. And Cosatu are not going to let any union member fees be taken out of their own pockets by deregulating labour.

Ok, ok, I know what some of you might be thinking, this Dachshund changes her mind all the time. But that is what is being a moderate is about, that you listen to others even if you are irritated as all hell by what is going on around you. My personal irritation is nothing in the greater scheme of letting the truth be told.

There is still no news of the farm manager who was hijacked and kidnapped in the Ladysmith area. It's grim here.

That's all they have...Take that away and they are truly all on their own...no race card to play or colonialists to blame...Why do you think murgabe still shakes his fist at "imperialists?"

It's the only "self-realisation" they experience (on the Maslow hierachy and all that)

That farm manager from the Ladysmith area who was thought to have been hijacked and kidnapped: they found the car with the keys in the ignition in Krugersdorp. So the previous charges of hijacking have been dropped, and a missing person report has been opened instead. Nobody seems to know just what happened.

Will this be your last post on "theonewhoshallnotbenamed"?
For the love of FSM, I hope so.

I'm trying hard not to indulge in this national sport which is neither clever nor productive but so depressingly easy to do.
Fuck me, can't we rather discuss the relative merits of a slightly crooked thumbscrew off an antique window brace; or those plastic disks they use to raise kettles up off the worktop? Both ideas carry more intellectual weight. I know an excellent Thai Green Curry recipe if anybody cares.

Problem is, every time I start to think about my future in South Africa, every time I think about ploughing my hard earned money into a long term investment in this beautiful land, all I see is this cretin - in Sunday best - with right hand in the air, swearing those sacred words, while his left hand - with twisted fingers - digs far too deep and far too personally, into my rather modest back pocket.

...and just so I can't be accused of adding value, here is an intro to some music that might just make you look cool in front of your friends while you stuff boerewors and potato salad down your throats: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX05nkLjT1k and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGsTi05YPms

Probably not but I have threatened to stop a few times. I agree that the topic is so boring. I used to think the country was undergoing some mass hysteria with the pessimism that was bukkaked everywhere. After all every single indicator basically shows everything improving here but you won't ever believe that if you read a newspaper. I thought that underlying the everyday happy normal people I met was some bitter mentally ill person. I've since discovered it's a very small minorty of people making all the noise. White males of a "certain age" who went through military propoganda and trauma and neurotic "soccer moms" who basically see boogie men in every closest anywhere in the world.

Both are extremely boring subsets of people and exist everywhere in the world. So really why would I want to go on debating with these mad morons ?

But yeah I'll probably carry on half arsed with this site as time permits.

Last thing I would ever do is scarf boerewors and potato salad to the fucking horrible strains of The Do. That's akin to having ones ears raped by Rebecca Black.

When I say "theonewhoshallnotbenamed" I meant JM.
I would be quite disappointed if you stopped this blog altogether. Small pox was destroyed only by making the biggest push right at the end (thanks WHO).

"Welcome my friend, to planet earth."

True, true .... but perhaps it's too late to ignore the pawn at F2. Maybe we need a critical analysis of what exactly would happen if JM donned the golden knobkerrie. [It seems I can't stop talking about him even if really want to.] Post away my friend!

You are actually quite a funny guy. A sort of South African Machiavellian bashing Maddox. I would like to see this on mynews24.

"And there I was going along nicely without ever having heard of Rebecca black. Now I'm fucked !"

First time for me to. There was not even any gentle easing, she just rammed it in there didn't she? -Shudder, thanks again Dach. You obviously enjoyed watching.

Why should anyone want to bother with "Dubhul' ibhunu" when there are so much better struggle songs out there? Really beautiful, stirring songs ... let's hear it for the late, great Miriam Makeba singing the freedom song that Hugh Masekela wrote for her:

Soweto Blues
