CTN is world's second best beach city

Cape Town's coastline was voted the second best beach destination in the world by the Lonely Planet Travel Guide.January 2011 saw one of the world’s leading travel guide resources announce their choice of the World’s Ten Best Beach Cities, in which Cape Town was voted second.

The Lonely Planet; a trusted multifaceted travel resource with a history spanning over thirty years, announced their choice of the World’s Best Ten Beach Cities describing Cape Town as ‘good-looking, fun-loving, sporty and sociable’.

The Lonely Planet’s Ten Best Beach Cities are:

Cape Town Tourism CEO, Mariette du Toit-Helmbold, said that this endorsement was a celebration of Cape Town’s versatility; “Whilst Cape Town is a fascinating, culturally rich city, it’s also a natural paradise. We are amongst the lucky few destinations in the world to be able to claim the combination of the finest beaches, iconic natural beauty and distinctive urban culture as part of our unique identity.”
