S.A laugh off "comic opera" comments.

From here.

Johannesburg - Foreigners seem to perceive SA's political risk as far lower than what locals believe it to be, after treasury succeeded in raising its biggest global bond ($2bn, or R15.16bn) at a historically low rate.

Director general in the treasury, Lesetja Kganyago, confirmed the bond was allocated to 320 different investors on Tuesday, with 59% going to the US, 33% to Europe, 4% to Asia and a small percentage to Latin America.

The ten-year bond gives South Africa a coupon of 5.5% and completes the funding required for the 2010/11 fiscal year.

"This is definitely an indication of [investor] appetite and confidence," said FNB economist Cees Bruggemans.

News of treasury's success in registering this bond coincided with President Jacob Zuma's first state visit to Britain.

While the visit is aimed at shoring up investor confidence, Zuma has been blasted in the British media following his headline-grabbing personal indiscretions, seemingly dithering leadership on key policy issues as well as infighting in the ANC.

The Financial Times labelled his visit a "comic opera". But the paper did concede that investors, especially those in other emerging markets, don't regard South Africa as a "failed rainbow nation".

RMB currency strategist John Cairns said that the bond proved how foreigners were still interested in investing their portfolio money in South Africa.

Foreign direct investment was more difficult to attract to South Africa than investment by portfolio managers, said Cairns. He added, however, that foreigners were well aware of local politics but viewed political risk "to be far lower in South Africa than in other emerging markets".

Bruggemans added one should "never confuse" political and media comment with what the market was prepared to do. Bruggemans agreed with Cairns that the bond was also testimony to the credibility treasury had built up over the years.

This ‘bestiality’ claim is however still being widely circulated and originate from only one source whose identity and indeed also his controversial political background are well-known to me. The email originating from this person shows a series of photographs depicting a tragically-deformed dead human infant (born date unknown) in Khayelitsha township near Cape Town. The circumstances and exact date of the birth – and indeed any other proof such as an expert medical report or the names of the dog’s owners for instance – are of course not included. What is included are the screaming headlines with bestiality claims.

The email in fact claims that this non-viable deformed newborn on the left was the result of a ‘dog-human hybrid.’ What murky purpose would be served by sending around such un-Christian lies other than to whip up even more anti-white sentiments in the increasingly volatile and polarising South Africa?

This persistent urban myth after all is actually is hiding a horrifying tragedy which must have struck intense fear in the soul of one unfortunate young black mother -- who lives in a society entirely ruled by a deeply-embedded fear of witchcraft.

The exact details of this birth will probably never be known because no medical experts ever examined this human infant -- as far as I am aware right now. If they have I hope they contact me at once!

However one fact is clear from these photographs: this infant portrayed as ‘the offspring of a dog’ definitely was a human being. I showed the photographs to a forensic expert in my town in The Netherlands without any other further explanations - and it was confirmed to me that this monstrous human child suffered from a little-published human mutation usually caused by specific chemicals in the mother’s body during pregnancy. Such deformed babies usually never survive longer than a few days and often are not shown to the parents after the birth in most societies – this is done to stave off the trauma which inevitably would follow, the forensic scientist explained to me.

Any nation described as the ‘rape capital of the world’ should be one to take extra special care in. Although rape had shown a declining trend to 113.7 in 2004, it increased in 2005 to 118.3 per 100 000. Another damning statistic for South Africa is its appallingly high murder rate. The 2010 World Cup host is consistently in the Top 5 list of countries by homicide rate. Most crime is confined to poor areas but it hasn’t stopped gated communities springing up all over South Africa and armed guards protecting wealthy tourist groups. Farming in South Africa has become one of the most dangerous professions in the world. The murder rate for farmers is 313 per 100 000 – about 8 times the national average. And like anywhere, sex can be very dangerous in South Africa, where more than 10 million people are infected with HIV

Drama , drama , drama.

Firstly they have been telling us 1 in 4 people here have aids since 1990....20 years ago. Yet Aids (even if you include all tb cases)is the 15th biggest killer in the country. Yo use a good old South African term...the 1 in 4 myth is a bunch of KAK. If 1 in 4 south Africans had aids then we could expect a minimum of 800 000 aids deaths a year (as far back as 1990) and increasing.

Secondly "the rape capital of the world" is another highly loaded and political label. Firsly unlike 99% of the rest of the third world South Africa is developed enough to report statistics. Seconly as a highly liberal country what's defined as rape is entirely bullshit sometimes. South Africa might be the top country for "rape" but who is third ? Canada ! Fifth ? Australia. Figure the validity of that out for yourself.

Next top 5 muders ? Are you still living in 1998 ? South Africa hasn't been in the top 10 murder countries for a long time now. Aboce that remember that almost no third world countries even have the infrastructure to record stats not to mention do it accurately.

Adn lastly...that all sounds so gory and intersting...but how much of that happens to tourists ? Almost zero ! South Africa is a tried and proven very safe tourist destination. Now go cry yourself to sleep over the fact that this world cup is going to be amazing.

The correct link to that comment put up by censorbugbear is:

http://censorbugbear-reports.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2010-03-04T13%3A22%3A00%2B01%3A00&max-results=20

The lead in para is:

"By Adriana Stuijt. – DOKKUM, the Netherlands. An obnoxious urban myth is widely distributed by a certain person* who seems to spend his waking hours thinking up new ways to demonise black South Africans as ‘bestial and ‘unhuman’. With Afrikaners being murdered – or increasingly demonised by a great many black leaders at such a massive rate right now -- do they really need this email which will only add fuel to the growing chorus of racial hatred? What is the murky underlying purpose for this race-hatred inciting email?"

It goes on (not mentioned in comment):

"Mutant child in Russia had similar deformities to Khayelitsha foetus

"A very similar mutant-human (picture below) was also reported in Russia in 2003. It looked amazingly similar to the Khayelitsha foetus. In that case the deceased newborn was however born in a society with much better medical experts and knowledge. This child’s birth also caused her parents tremendous mental trauma. However when she died she was sent to a Russian morgue where professional experts in forensic medicine examined the little body. She had been dubbed a ‘cyclops’ in the news media because she only had one eye on her forehead and another tiny trunk-like appendix through which she was breathing – very similar to the trunk-like appendix on the Khayelitsha child’s deformed face. The Russian forensic examination revealed that the hairy, one-eyed girl also had a number of other physical defects, which would not have let her live even for several days, the Russian news media reported.'"

So this is just the usual sensationalist crap from Adriana Stuijt. She says she knows who is sending this e-mail around: " ... his identity and indeed also his controversial political background are well-known to me".

Really? Now I wonder who it would be?

well who would it be?
